James Clements Smith

Managing Director

James is the Managing Director of Prevista and has been with the company since 2004. He joined the company as the first Commercial Director and was instrumental in progressing the company into large scale business support, work based learning and employment programmes. James has been the Managing Director since 2005 and has steered the company into new areas which has resulted in a one company approach to the delivery of the company’s services. These have included brokerage, combining skills and employment, deeper and broader partnership development and regional services in the Midlands and the South East of England.

James’ experience spans all areas of economic and social regeneration including young people and NEET approaches, business support, social enterprise development and mainstream business support and work based learning. He has operated programmes in all of these areas during his 20 year career in public service provision. Prior to joining Prevista, James worked in East London at senior level at London East Training and Enterprise Council, London East Connexions and Diversity East London.

A gregarious Glaswegian, James has been CEO of the Big Issue in Scotland, Drumchapel Opportunities and Community Enterprise Lothian. His work in Scotland was primarily focused on poverty, social inclusion and enterprise in large housing estates and deprived communities such as the Homeless.
